Connect the Watch

After installing PickupGamer on your iPhone, open Apple’s Watch app, find PickupGamer under Available Apps and tap Install. Open PickupGamer on both devices and keep them connected. The Watch is optional; you can also score on your phone.

Keep the scoreboard close at hand

The phone stays awake while the scoreboard is open. On Apple Watch, use Settings → General → Return to Clock → PickupGamer → Custom → After 1 hour. On supported watches, enable Always On in Display & Brightness. watchOS still controls when the display dims or returns to the clock.

While actually playing a sport, you can start an optional workout from the watch's game controls. It records exercise in Apple Health; it is not a general-purpose screen-lock workaround. End the workout when you finish playing.

Scoring and sound

Swipe up or right to add a point; swipe down or left to correct it. Tap a score to show controls. Use the reset arrow in the bottom controls to start a new game. Scores wrap from 99 to 0. On the watch, use the large plus and minus controls.

Each side has its own color and sound. Tap the speaker to choose and preview a sound, or hold it to mute. Sounds start muted, and score corrections are silent. Check the phone's media volume, selected audio output, and the app's Play in Silent Mode setting. For vibration-only watch feedback, turn on the watch's Silent Mode.

Sport controls

Choose a sport from the scoreboard toolbar. Options include tennis points and sets, a pickleball server display, Cornhole cancellation scoring, and Premium basketball +2/+3 Watch buttons and a 24-second clock. Players enter scores; points are not detected automatically.

Friends and places

Open Social to find friends, send invitations, message your group and find or organize games. Sign in with Apple only when you want these features. Places shows venues for your sport, directions and voluntary check-ins. Suggest a missing mapped venue to help other players; new suggestions are labeled until verified.

Scoring does not automatically publish your location or check you in. Check-ins last one hour and can be ended or extended. See the privacy policy.

Free and Premium

Core scoring, basic Watch controls, preset colors, Nixie, Flipboard and Varsity fonts, Airhorn, Stadium roar, Cha-ching, team names, basic teams and history, and social participation stay free. Premium is planned as a $3.99 one-time purchase for extra fonts and sounds, custom colors and city themes, winning-score rules and celebrations, and advanced Watch sport controls. Local pricing may vary; Apple’s purchase sheet shows the final price.
